The best Facebook and Instagram ads automation tools in 2026, compared

Published 23 October 2026 · Every vendor page read 23 October 2026

A Facebook ads automation tool connects to your Meta ad accounts and does some of the work an ads manager does by hand: watching spend and results, pausing what is losing money, moving budget toward what is working, launching variations in bulk, and reporting across accounts. The eight tools below all connect to Meta, which means Facebook and Instagram together; several also run Google, TikTok, Snapchat and more.

Two things make this category hard to shop for. First, "automation" means two different products. Some tools act on rules you set and change budgets or pause ads by themselves (Birch, AdEspresso and Madgicx all describe this); others recommend changes for you to approve, and change nothing on their own (Adzooma says so in its own FAQ). Second, most prices scale with your ad spend, through spend bands, overage charges or a fee on managed campaigns, so the entry price says little about what you will pay at your budget. The table says which model each vendor uses, in the vendor's own terms.

How this comparison was made. We read each vendor's own pricing, feature and help pages on 23 October 2026 and wrote down what they said, with the page it came from; where a page did not state something, the table says so. Screenshots are of each vendor's public website on that day. Prices are the published price before tax and they change without notice, so check the vendor's page before you buy.

Nobody paid to be here. No vendor paid to be included, and none can pay to be ranked, which is why the table is in no particular order. If we ever carry a paid placement it will be labelled as one, on the page, next to the listing. Our own product is in the table because leaving it out would be the dishonest option; what the others do better is stated in its own section. Corrections from vendors are welcome at support@otwmotion.com.

The eight tools at a glance

Prices are each vendor's published monthly price before tax, read on 23 October 2026. Where a vendor publishes no price, the table says so instead of guessing. "Automates" lists what the vendor's own pages say the tool does by itself.

In no particular order. A tool that only recommends changes is marked "recommendations only". Spend caps, bands and overage rules are the vendor's own, as published on the day we read them.

Madgicx

Meta-only advertisers who want rules plus an AI recommendation layer, and will accept a price revealed inside the app

madgicx.com
Madgicx website, screenshot taken 23 October 2026
madgicx.com, 23 October 2026. Screenshot of the vendor's public website; the trademark belongs to its owner.
Starts at
Not published. The pricing page says "See price inside the app" and renders $0 placeholders. Madgicx's own academy says Pro Complete starts from $99 a month and rises with monthly Meta spend.
Pricing model
One plan, Pro Complete, priced in seven monthly-spend bands from under $1K to $30K+. Quarterly billing saves 8%, annual 20%. Monthly customers are moved up a band automatically when spend exceeds it.
Platforms
Meta campaign management only. Its One-Click Report add-on also reads Google Ads, GA4, Shopify, Klaviyo and TikTok, for reporting rather than management.
Trial
7 days with everything included and up to 5 report dashboards. Card required; no free plan.

Madgicx pitches itself as the AI ads manager agencies use to run every account. Its pages describe automated rules that it says trigger in real time, bulk budget increases and decreases, targeting changes that avoid re-entering Meta's learning phase, an automated ad launch tool, and an "AI Marketer" that audits the account daily and applies its recommendations in one click. Every plan includes two connected ad accounts; more are $9 each a month, and team members are unlimited.

The price is the problem. Madgicx's own surfaces carry three different figures: the academy says from $99 a month, a homepage banner sells an analytics-only offer at $29, and the pricing page shows $0 until you are inside the app. A third-party pricing tracker recorded a $45 entry after a cut in April 2026. Treat any Madgicx number as unconfirmed until the app shows it to you, and read its automation claims (real-time triggers, "AI bidding") as claims; none comes with a stated measurement.

Birch (formerly Revealbot)

Teams on Meta plus Google, Snapchat or TikTok who want a rules engine priced by ad spend

bir.ch
Birch (formerly Revealbot) website, screenshot taken 23 October 2026
bir.ch, 23 October 2026. Screenshot of the vendor's public website; the trademark belongs to its owner.
Starts at
$49 a month (Essential) for up to $10K of monthly spend across your connected accounts, or $45 a month billed annually. Pro is $99 a month at the same bracket.
Pricing model
Tiers by monthly ad spend across every connected account: $10K, $30K, $75K, $150K, $300K, $500K, then Enterprise. An overage charge applies above your bracket.
Platforms
Meta, Google Ads, Snapchat Ads and TikTok Ads.
Trial
14 days with every feature, no card required.

Birch is Revealbot under a new name; the help centre still lives at the old domain. Its rules take nested conditions, custom metrics and more than twenty actions, and are checked every 15 minutes. A rule can compare a metric with last week or with the top ten, and one rule can span several accounts. Strategies are pre-built rule bundles, Launcher creates up to 50 ads per ad set, Explorer stops ads or swaps creatives with one button, and Birch AI turns a plain-language request into a rule you review before it goes live. Reporting covers scheduled cross-platform reports, Slack and email alerts and white-label output.

Two things to check before you buy. The pricing page lists automated rules under Pro, while the FAQ says every feature is available on every plan; ask which is true for the plan you are quoted. And the annual toggle is labelled 20% off, while the page's own figures work out to twelve months for the price of eleven, about 8%. The price is a slider by spend rather than a plan ladder, which is convenient at $8K a month and worth modelling at $80K.

AdEspresso

Small Facebook and Instagram advertisers under $1,000 a month who want split testing with simple rules

adespresso.com
AdEspresso website, screenshot taken 23 October 2026
adespresso.com, 23 October 2026. Screenshot of the vendor's public website; the trademark belongs to its owner.
Starts at
$49 a month (Starter), with a $1,000 monthly ad-spend limit. Plus is $99 with unlimited spend; Enterprise starts from $259.
Pricing model
Flat monthly tiers. Only the entry tier caps ad spend. Unlimited ad accounts from Starter.
Platforms
Facebook and Instagram campaigns. Google is not listed as a managed platform on the pages we read.
Trial
14 days on every plan. No free plan.

AdEspresso's rules can increase or decrease a budget, pause ads, or start another campaign, on triggers from CPA and CPM through to conversions and return on investment; it describes pausing the costliest ads and redistributing budget to the top performers. Around that sit bulk updates, automatic promotion of Facebook posts, split testing with an Inspector breakdown, and reports to web, PDF, email and Excel that can be tag-aggregated and scheduled. Agencies get onboarding requests for client access, client campaign approval, and on Plus, white-label reports with 15 seats.

The entry plan's $1,000 spend cap is the limit that matters. There is no AI layer, which is honest of it. One caution on provenance: older articles call it "AdEspresso by Hootsuite", but no current AdEspresso page names Hootsuite, the footer reads "AdEspresso LLC" and Hootsuite's product page for it returns a 404, so treat current ownership as unverified. Several site pages 404 and the privacy policy is dated 2013, which says something about how actively the site itself is maintained.

Smartly

Large multi-channel advertisers and agencies buying through a sales process

smartly.io
Smartly website, screenshot taken 23 October 2026
smartly.io, 23 October 2026. Screenshot of the vendor's public website; the trademark belongs to its owner.
Starts at
Not published. The pricing URL returns a 404 and the only path in is "Get a demo".
Pricing model
Not stated on any Smartly page. Competitors and reviewers describe a percentage of media spend with minimums; those are their numbers, not Smartly's, so we do not print them.
Platforms
Meta, Google, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Reddit, Amazon, Roku and Spotify, plus connected TV across streaming services and the major DSPs.
Trial
None. Demo only.

Smartly is built for launching, automating and managing hundreds of campaigns at once: automated triggers that act when a condition is met, feed-based dynamic ads with creative variations generated in bulk, automatic rotation against creative fatigue, and Predictive Budget Allocation that it says shifts spend to winners across channels in real time. Brand Pulse measures across channels with deduplication while campaigns run, and agencies get one workspace across platforms that were previously siloed.

There is no self-serve path, no public price and no trial, and account counts, seats and white-label terms are not stated. If you spend under five figures a month, nothing on its pages is addressed to you.

Hunch

Retailers and agencies with product feeds on Meta, Snapchat and TikTok whose budgets justify a four-figure monthly platform fee

hunchads.com
Hunch website, screenshot taken 23 October 2026
hunchads.com, 23 October 2026. Screenshot of the vendor's public website; the trademark belongs to its owner.
Starts at
From $2,500 a month, stated on Hunch's own comparison pages. It has no pricing page; the pricing URL redirects to the homepage.
Pricing model
A fee only on the campaigns that run through Hunch, with no per-account and no seat limits. Branded feed creative is priced monthly per client.
Platforms
Meta, Snapchat and TikTok. Hunch's own comparison page says it does not support Google Ads.
Trial
None. Request a demo.

Hunch starts from the product feed rather than the ad set: Smart Product Sets refreshed weekly, catalogue product video refreshed on a schedule, AI background removal and colour matching, and bulk campaign creation pushed straight to Meta and Snap. On top sit budget rules and alerts, and Autopilot, which creates, edits or pauses ads from media-plan data, including weather-, location- and time-of-day-based ads. Clients can preview and approve creatives, agencies can sell Hunch as their own service, and reporting goes down to SKU level with GA4, Adjust and AppsFlyer connections.

The $2,500 a month floor is the filter. "Hunch Agentic" and AI-native reporting are listed as coming next, Autopilot carries no launch date on its page, and bid changes are not described anywhere we read.

Adzooma

Small teams who run Google and Microsoft first and want Meta included in audits, alerts and reports

adzooma.com
Adzooma website, screenshot taken 23 October 2026
adzooma.com, 23 October 2026. Screenshot of the vendor's public website; the trademark belongs to its owner.
Starts at
A free plan with monthly reports, limited opportunities, 3 alerts, 1 seat and unlimited ad accounts. Silver is $69 a month or $700 a year; Gold is $179 a month or $1,800 a year.
Pricing model
Flat tiers with no spend caps and unlimited connected ad accounts on every tier.
Platforms
Google Ads, Microsoft Ads and Meta. Its ad-scheduling checks cover Google and Microsoft only.
Trial
Free forever plan, no card. No timed trial is stated.

Adzooma is recommendation-led by design. Its own FAQ says nothing is changed without your approval; it finds opportunities and you apply them in two clicks. You get 30 pre-built alerts plus custom thresholds, budget pacing, a side-by-side comparison of Google, Meta and Microsoft performance, and data refreshed monthly on the free plan, weekly on Silver and daily on Gold. Silver and Gold add white-label audit and performance reports, and agencies get grouped projects and bulk changes across accounts.

It is not a Meta rules engine: nothing pauses or scales by itself, and the AI copy optimiser is for Google responsive search ads. Scheduled reports are marked coming soon. The "save 20%" badge on annual billing works out to about 15% to 16% against the listed prices, and some footer dates are years stale, which is cosmetic but worth knowing.

Marin Software

Cross-channel teams that already run paid-search tooling and can tolerate ownership uncertainty

marinsoftware.com
Marin Software website, screenshot taken 23 October 2026
marinsoftware.com, 23 October 2026. Screenshot of the vendor's public website; the trademark belongs to its owner.
Starts at
Connect, "starting at" $500 a month, month to month, with 5 data sources and the bidding and budget tools shown as preview only. Ascend is listed from $1,000 and One from $2,000 in one table and as "Custom" in another on the same page.
Pricing model
Flat monthly plans marked "starting at", plus one-time setup fees for some integrations. No percentage of spend is stated.
Platforms
Paid social across Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok and more; paid search; retail media.
Trial
30 days in a sandbox account.

Marin's social product describes an AI-driven bidding and budget engine, rules that run on ads, ad sets and campaigns with custom KPIs, a budget pacing report, a Message Booster that amplifies organic posts, bulk uploads across Facebook accounts and A/B ad studies. Agencies get cross-client reporting, performance alerts, unlimited linked accounts and warehouse integrations with Snowflake and Google Cloud.

Read the company before the product. Marin went through Chapter 11 in 2025 and was delisted from Nasdaq in June of that year. Its homepage says it has been acquired by Zax Capital; its court-filed plan named Kaxxa Holdings as sponsor; the relationship between the two is not stated anywhere we read, and the press-release page stops in October 2024. The entry plan's optimisation features are view-only previews. Check who answers before you sign a twelve-month Ascend term.

Skai

Enterprise teams spending seven figures a year across search, social and retail media

skai.io
Skai website, screenshot taken 23 October 2026
skai.io, 23 October 2026. Screenshot of the vendor's public website; the trademark belongs to its owner.
Starts at
Standard, $114,000 a year, for up to $4 million a year in ad spend. That is roughly $9,500 a month, our arithmetic, not Skai's figure. Smaller programmes are referred to named resellers.
Pricing model
Fixed annual fees in tiers by annual ad spend: $114k, $276k, $504k, $756k, then custom. The commitment is reviewed after the first three months.
Platforms
Paid social across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snap, Pinterest and LinkedIn, plus paid search and retail media. The homepage claims 300+ channels; the Standard plan lists 120+ publishers.
Trial
None. Demos and a self-guided tour.

Skai, formerly Kenshoo, sells portfolio optimisation: it adjusts bids and budgets to guide campaigns toward a target, runs rule-based optimisation that keeps you in control, paces and monitors budgets, and bulk-edits through sheets. Celeste AI sits across it, "Build Your Own Algorithm" trains the platform on the changes you would make, and Creative AI classifies Meta videos and images. Reports go out on a schedule by email, Slack or Teams, and its named customers are holding companies and large agencies.

It is priced for enterprises and says so. The Standard tier caps at $4 million a year in spend, the "300+ channels" and "120+ publishers" figures are different counts for different scopes, and white label, seats and account counts are not stated.

OTW Signal Ads (that's us)

Seeing every Meta ad account's spend, clicks and problems in one free view, and stopping a campaign from there

otwmotion.com
OTW Signal Ads website, screenshot taken 23 October 2026
otwmotion.com, 23 October 2026. Our own page.
Starts at
Free for every signed-in user. No card.
Pricing model
No charge for Ads as of the date above; search, social and ads are free. AI visibility, the Console's one paid part, starts at $59 a month or $590 a year: 20 buyer questions on Google AI Overview, asked weekly, with every answer kept word for word. It scales up to seven AI engines (ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot on Bing), up to 8 asks per question and daily runs, with a 7-day free trial that measures daily on three engines.
Platforms
Meta ad accounts, which covers Facebook and Instagram. Google and TikTok are shown as planned and cannot be connected yet.
Trial
None needed. Sign in and connect a Meta ad account.

Connect as many Meta ad accounts as you run, and the Console reads each one about every 30 minutes and shows spend, clicks and cost per click per campaign across all of them. When an account has a problem, you see it with numbered steps to fix it. The one change it makes on Meta is pausing a campaign: that stops new delivery and cannot refund what was already spent. It sits in the same Console as your Google Search Console data, your social calendar and your AI visibility measurement, so one sign-in covers the four channels.

What the others do better, stated plainly. Every other tool on this page automates more than we do. Birch, AdEspresso and Madgicx run rules that change budgets and pause ads by themselves; Hunch and Smartly build and rotate creative from product feeds; Marin and Skai optimise bids across channels. We do not create campaigns, change budgets, turn campaigns on or publish ads. If you need a rules engine, pick one of them. If you need one free place to watch spend across every account and be able to stop something fast, that is what this is.

How to choose

FAQ

What does a Facebook ads automation tool actually do?
It watches your Meta ad accounts and acts on conditions you set: when cost per result passes a threshold, pause the ad; when return holds for three days, raise the budget by a set percentage; when spend passes a cap, stop the campaign. The tools that go further launch ad variations in bulk, build creative from product feeds, or let an AI layer recommend changes. The honest question to ask any vendor is which actions the tool takes by itself and which it only suggests.

Flat fee or percentage of spend: which pricing model is better?
It depends on your budget and how fast it changes. Flat tiers (AdEspresso, Adzooma, Marin) cost the same whether you spend $500 or $50,000, but the entry tier often carries a spend cap. Spend-band pricing (Birch, Madgicx) starts cheap and climbs with your budget, with overage or an automatic band upgrade when you cross a line. Fee-on-managed-campaigns (Hunch) and fixed annual fees by spend (Skai) are enterprise models. Model your own twelve months before you compare entry prices.

Do these tools work with Instagram ads too?
Yes, wherever they connect to Meta. Instagram ads run from the same Meta ad account as Facebook ads, so every Meta tool on this page lists Facebook and Instagram together; the difference between them is placement, not platform.
